Well my financial advisor (wife) finally agreed to let me go ahead and buy a Uly I ordered it through the HD/Buell sales office at the base where I'm stationed here in Belgium. I had to do a special order because they only had black ones available now and I wanted the orange one. I also requested the delivery date of Apr 06 because the weather here has already started getting bad and will only get worse If I would've taken one of the ones in stock, it wouldn't have been here until mid December anyway and I wasn't looking forward to a 4 hour snowy, wet and cold ride on a brand new bike. Having the bike delivered in Apr will be just about right weather wise to start having some really good road trips.
I'm also hoping that Buell will have the heated grips sorted out and available by then as well as the slow supply chain on the hard bags should be sorted out.
I'll be sure to post pics of all of the places I take the Uly over the next 3 years. In the mean time I'll just have to keep reading about everyone elses adventures!

Ship date for my Uly is Nov 18. The dealer said to figure about the 23rd of Nov for it showing up. Anyway, it'll be cold since I'm in Omaha, NE. After reading about the MOTOMAN break-in procedure I'll now have to decide if this guy knows what he's talking about. For sure it seems like a sound strategy and it would be easier to really get on the bike then to hold back. The only thing is the recommendation to change the only after 20 miles of working over the motor. My wife will think I'm nuts but I'll change that oil just like Motoman says.

Have you read the entire article at www.mototuneusa.com. Doesn't mean driving the poop out of the engine just make it work. Best way to do it is read the article several times and then explain it all to your wife/girlfriend and put them on the back for the first 40 miles. Done deal and you never even had to speed too much. This is the second Buell I broke in this way.

My Uly is slated to ship on Nov 11. Don't know when it will be at the dealer, but hopefully soon afterward.

The Motoman break-in is the ONLY way to go. Do it, you won't be sorry.

My "waiting" period is a bit different; I have to wait for my bike to be shipped to Europe which can take up to a month after it reaches the port at the East Coast. Even if it were to start the shipping process tomorrow i still wouldn't see the bike until mid-Dec at the earliest. I didn't want a black one nor did i want to have a brand new bike that I had to park for several months do to the weather. I'll just read the motoman break-in procedure a couple of times and plan my route home from central Germany (thats where I have to pick it up at) back here to Southern Belgium. I'll have to plan to ride it around in Germany and change the oil before I head this way.
The next few months will suck but it will be worth the wait

Last time I waited for a vehicle was back in January of 2004. We ordered two identical Toyota Prius cars. One was for the folks. We have over 21,000 on ours now and love it. I keep reading about how they cost too much compared to a comparable gas engined car. The thing they always leave out of the articles is the resale of a Prius. Not that I'd sell it, but the book value of my car is the same as I paid for it almost 2 years ago. I got that online from NADA.
