Ok, if you been reading my other thread I should have been working on my windshield today , but ever since I got an iPod Shuffle and enjoying some good tunes while I ride I wanted to try Satellite Radio. So I went to Radio Shack today and bought a Sirius Starmate Satellite Radio.
The Starmate came with a power cord, antenna, and mobile mount. $49 bucks with a $30 rebate. total cost $19. plus $142.00 for a year of service. Not a bad deal. Here is where I mounted it but I do want to move it to the left a little.
I mounted the antenna under the air box cover...

Two_buells,
Cool! Keep us posted. Music and traffic would be welcome on my commute to work.

Does that have an external antenna? If so, does it have a long cable?
I thought about Satellite radio and a pair of powered speakers for the XB12X, but wondered about the antenna setup.
Thanks.

external antenna has a 20' cable and I have it all wrapped up under the air box cover. the antenna is mounted under the air box also.
for speakers I use these helmet speakers ($22.00)from the Riders Warehouse (Aerostich)

WOW! Smokin' deal on the radio. Thanks for the heads up. I've been eyeballing the satellite radio thing, primarily for use at work. I'm thinking at that price it would be handy for those long road trips. My commute to work is about 8-12 minutes, not worth mounting it for that!

Two_buells...you might have a problem with the antenna location. I've had satellite radio on my last couple of bikes and have found that while the antenna can receive a signal through plastic, your body will probably block the reception. I'm looking at putting my antenna on the tail light housing, leaving enough loose antenna wire to move it around if I'm carry anything on the back. Let me know if your location does work though...bill

Antenna works ok under the air box cover, cuts out sometimes but not much.....
I might mount the antenna on the top case with a thin piece of metal, 12"x12" as a ground plain under the lid. than above the tail light when top case is off.
btw I GOT MY BAGS TODAY!
I just finished installing them and they are BIG!

thanks,
to the Elves in East Troy!
and Gotham..........

Two_buells,
Good idea with the cable, I may have to copy that if I add Satellite radio. I'm also thinking GPS would be a good idea for me and have to see what I have money for. Radio isn't much, but then you need a subscription.

You got your bags? Cool hopefully mine, just side cases, come in soon cause commuting in the truck is expensive.
Cheers
