After riding crotch rockets for 20some years, I am swapping my 04 Kawi ZX10R for a Ulysses; put the deposit down on a black one today. I've finally realized that there is more to riding than rear wheel horsepower. I am stoked! Anyone wanna buy a crotch rocket?}

I'm looking at getting off my Kawasaki ZZR 1200 and getting on a Uly very soon. I guess I'll be joining the former "crotch rocket" crowd...

I own a Hayabusa and Duc 999 and find myself riding the Uly every single day. This thing rocks!

Amen to all that! My Aprilia Mille and Ducati 900SS pretty much sit idle these days. The Ulysses is just too darn much fun!

I'm amazed at the list of sport bikes sitting idle. I read that it handled like a sport bike in the twisties, but more fun than a 999 or a Mille? Jiminy! Can't wait to get my mits on mine, hopefully next week.

IMHO comfy ergos have been a hallmark of many motorcycles made by Buell.

There have been countless times I have passed repli-racer type bikes on the side of the road, their riders taking a break and rubbing their backs.

I've done as many as 700 miles in a day on my former S2. Nearly all of that in the twisty bits. At my age if I tried that on a repli-racer I'd need medical attention. ; )

I'm looking forward to seeing how many miles a day I can put on a Uly! The break-in continues...

Guys, I know phrases like "real world" are overused in our society. But IMHO the Ulysses truly is a bike for real riders, real roads, the real world. We all know of smooth ribbons of asphalt that are great for riding. But far more often we must endure bumps, patches, potholes, etc. I can tell you the Ulysses handles them both in style. Enjoy!

Regards,

Jim in Santa Barbara

How true. I'm planning a ride tomorrow during which I'll be on some pretty nasty roads (but still paved, unfortunately). I would never have undertaken such rides on my sportbikes (which have been fitted with more comfortable bars, BTW).

So because I have a Ulysses I get to see some new country! Thanks, Erik! I think that's what you had in mind!

Given the new wave of financial uncertainly in both companies, they may at least make great colletors pieces.

The last issue of Dealernews carried a story of why Ducati closed their much hailed "Times Square Superstore" and the dealer who ha picked up the remains indicated that getting parts from Aprillia, given their financial strains, was sporadic at best.

Where the heck are all those "Buell won't make it 6 more months" folks from 1999 now?

Hey Chad welcome to the site. I saw your "which bike post on another site and laughed when I read you say "I am going down to try a Uly out and if I can't ride one I'm stroking it off my list" then you went down and the one that was there was sold so you sat on it and run the engine and decided to buy one. Great article.

This is my second Buell and so far I am loving it. I have owned more than 35 motorcycles in my life and I must say I like this one the best so far. Don't forget to order the bags for the bike.

The day I plopped down a deposit for the Uly, I rode my friends V-Strom for about 45 minutes and just didn't "click" with it. It's a nice bike, and I wouldn't be upset if someone gave me one, but it's not what I was looking for. I've ridden a Multistrada and a GS and liked them. I like the Multistrada better than the GS, but the maintenance and the seat were awful not to mention the wind buffeting.

I figured that the Buell might not be perfect, but it was as good or better in the areas that I was concerned with than any other bike I'd looked at.

I considered the bags, but decided that after having the ones for my FJR sit in my garage and collect dust for 2 years, I really didn't need them. A tank bag and a tail bag is really all I need for weekend trips. I'm all about light weight, basic needs only when riding. I've got an SUV if I need to haul something. LOL!
