I'm sure it's the same for all XB's, but I have a Uly, so . . . has anyone experienced the fan shut off after it comes on during a ride? Once mine comes on, it's seems to stay on until a few minutes after I shut the bike down. Have never noticed it to come on then shut off while riding. It's still hot here in Phoenix, so it may be due to the ambient temp.

Started off really liking the bike and it keeps getting better

Once it comes on it always seems to stay on.

But has been hot whenever I have ridden it.

I'll second Eor. Mine's never shut off by itself yet either.

It keeps on turning even after cutting the wires,
jamming sticks through the blades, and beating it with a sledgehammer.
Nothing can stop it!

I thought that spending time in Colorado with the lower temps would cut back on how much the fan came on. It didn't seem to make a difference. Even when running in the 40's and 50's it kicked on and stayed on. Anyone else experience this? I've got 3k on the bike now.

It hasn't gotten that cool yet here, but the fan ran all day yesterday and the temps were in the 60's most of the time. Cooler temps just seem to delay the fan coming on a few minutes at the beginning of the ride.

Yep, looks to be an always on operation.

New engines run hotter. Once well worn-in, expect fan to run less.

I took my Uly out for a ride yesterday afternoon. Nice sunny, warm day. Decided to go on a 40 mile "goat trail" ride in the local mountains (meaning a twisty, narrow, unmaintained stretch of potholes along the mountain ridge-line that is primarily potholed and patched with few stretches of decent pavement).

Perfect Uly road.

Anyway, had to run an errand in town first. Fan came on, then off, then on again during my meandering climb to the top. Once atop the mountains, the engine cooled down nicely (speeds in the 25 - 45 mph range) and the fan went off and stayed off for the remainder of the ride. Came on for a few minutes at shut-down.

Bike now has 425 miles or so.

The bike was NOT uncomfortably warm to ride either.

All in all the Uly performed admirably on a road that would no fun whatsoever on a cruiser or a sport bike. The pavement was so bad in stretches I had to stand on the pegs dirt bike style. For extended stretches like that I would want a taller handlebar.

Views were incredible. Ocean, islands, valleys, mountains, the city be the sea, etc. Gorgeous day. Gorgeous bike.

When I stopped by the local watering hole on the way home there were more than 100 bikes in attendance. Darn near impossible to find a parking spot.

The Uly drew a crowd. Many riders said they liked it, many said they wanted one. I fielded many questions about the bike.

Regards,

Jim in Santa Barbara
