I have 3 bikes in the garage.
2006 black Ulysses
2001 Volcano grey/Nuclear Blue S3T
1999 Colbalt Blue Road Glide

I asked one of my daughters friends which one she wanted a ride on. Guess which one she pointed to?

The Ulysses!

Steve, she only chose the Black Uly because Barricade Orange wasn't an option!

So...how old is your daughters friend?

Does this mean that the Uly is a "chick magnet"?

Are we twins? I have a black Uly, an orange/nuclear blue S3T and I traded in a '99 Colbalt Blue Road Glide. What are the changes of that?

Would you guys who have both an ST3 and a Uly care to comment on the differences between the two Buell sport-tourers?

Hi Steve,

Yeah, I'm liking the Ulysses a lot. It's hard to let my beloved S2 go, but c'est la vie.

I would never have considered taking the S2 on a ride to Alaska and back. With the Uly I plan to one day.

Regards,

That sounds like a good plan Jim!
I looked at that Sedona Dual Sport ride also but it's too short notice for a novice dirt rider on a brand new bike to take any chances although I believe the Uly would handle the ride just fine in the proper hands of course.

As for the much wanted comparison to an S3T;
I can only say that the Uly outperforms my S3T in many ways but the S3T is more of a racer than the Uly. But for the most part there is no real good comparison to make because they are different species, bred for different riding styles. If you want comfortable high-speed riding, then get an S3T because it was wind tested very stable at high speeds.

The Uly shines on bumpy twisty roads yet will also pull fast enough to go to jail on the slab!

I fall somewhere in the middle of that and I love the Uly!

Hi Steve,

Re the Red Rock ride, I think the Uly should be able to handle the GS portions (don't know for sure). But I'd avoid the more technical DS sections (saw some pics that were truly gnarly rock strewn sections). I'd want my DRZ400 on those.

Still, looks like tremendous fun. I'm going to try to do it next year.

Some of my buddies will be there there next weekend. Looks aweseome!

Best,

Jim in Santa Barbara
