Does anybody know the capacity of the side and top cases of the Uly? Thanks. |

I've not seen any volumes reported yet, but each of the three available cases will reportedly hold a full face helmet. Hopefully some knowledgeable anonymous poster might help us answer this one? |

I stated to some folks the other day that you could put two full helmets in one side case but as it turns out I can only get one full face and one half helmet in one side case. One full face will also fit in the top case. They are VERY roomy! Hope this helps! BC Steve |

I don't know measured capacity, but I did find some pictures of an XB12X next to an S3T in this thread: http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=93290&page=4&pp=15 They're posted by Whodom, about half way down the page. The Ulysses bags appear to be substantially larger than the S3T bags with the narrow lids. |

"..managed to get 40 corn husks in one bag.." That was the infamous Eyore, the new Uly owner. And its ears of corn, not husks. The husks are the green outer leaves that you don't eat. I know, you're a city boy... Jack |

"City boy indeed - and writing in my second language as well..." And you are doing a great job of it. I meant no real criticism in my comment. Over the years, I lived in Germany, France, and Spain) for a total of 5-6 years. I remember most Europeans considered corn to be an animal feed and had never eaten good sweet corn direct from the cob. Jack |

Jack - just funnin' with you. No offense taken Corn in many places in Europe are indeed animal feed. In Denmark you can get decent sweet corn as well. Not as good as I've had corn here in the US though. Henrik |

I don't know if this is true or not but the dealer here told me that you either order the 3 bag set or the 2 bag set. If you want to order the rear bag after, it is ordered by ordering all the parts separately. This usually means a lot more money. |

I was wondering the same thing regarding the top box - thought about buying just the side cases and using an Aero Pack bag over the tail rack in leu of a topbox |

I'm thinking my typical commuting setup will just be a top case. I'll add the side cases for camping and longer trips. Just my 0.02 Cheers |

I just registered to this site. Those pictures of the S3T and the Uly are my bikes, and that's me in the middle picture. I had Whodom post them for me, since I didn't have the proper tools to attach them to the Adv. site. Anyway here's another site the list the bags and top case. twistedthrottle.com It looks like you can purchase the two items seperately, but they don't list any hardware. My dealer said that they were a set and were not sold seperately. (True???) I'd check my bike, but I just took it in for the 1m check up about an hour ago. Hope I can help more in the future. Bob |

I just picked up my bags. Side bags only. There is no hardware included for the top box. I suspect that this is an independent installation. All of the mounting hardware was in the same box as the bags. I would imagine that the top box would be packaged similarly. The bags are really impressive. They are quite large and really well made. BTW the max load for each case is 15 lbs (6.8 Kg). Sounds like a lot more than 40 husks to me! |

Brotherbuell, The Buell chat session brought up the question of the removablity of the case mounting brackets. I think it had to do with the lock-patch bolts included in the setup hardware. Since it sounds like you are in the process of installing the side cases: how easy would it be to remove the brackets once on and vice versa? would you need to replace the lock-patch bolts with regular ones? thanks, JB |

Also, according to Daves, you can NOT just add the top case later. There are only 2 options, the side bags only or all three. You can not purchase only the top case and mounting brackets for it separately at a later date. |

The bags came in before the bike so I can only relate my opinion based on the instructions. It looks like a piece of cake. All very straight forward in what looks like very accessible mounting points. I would say 30 minutes at most to install. Maybe a little less to un-install. I'm not sure about dismounting this hardware. The instructions call for Locktite on the mounting bolts so it's pretty clear that it's not the design intent. |

I had the dealer install my side bags and top case. He charged me labor for 2.25 hours. I'm interested in what it will take a non-professional to do the job. Looking at the installed hardware, I don't see anything too complicated. Another post wanted a pic. without the bags, just the mounting hardware. I will do that if no one else has done it in the next week. I'm off to Canada for a fishing trip and won't have time (or light) before I take off. |

What are we going to do if the top case gets dammaged in an accident. How will we get a replacement. Something is not right there. |

Bienhoabob, Your right, nothing complicated. Four 1/4" bolts to remove and eight to install for the side cases. Can't imagine more than another eight bolts for the top box. |
