Two_buells,
Don't think you can go wrong with any Arai.
I've had a Arai Quantum/f (wild paint with the toothed rocket on the back) since 2001. Comfortable, light, and good ventilation.
It's what I'll wear if my XB12X ever comes in.
Cheers

My Arai Quantun II is a lot louder than I expected a helemt that expensive to be. It is light though. My KBC Wolf was much quieter.

I like that XD helmet a lot. I think that duckbill
thing can be taken off also for high speed maneuvers. Otherwise the wind tries to push your forehead back between your shoulder blades.
My only question is, for street riding will it make you look like Darth Vader out for a spin?
"You cannot resist the power of the dark side."
Rubberdown- the story about the noise level is this. It has to do with ventilation and the amount of airspace in the helmet. The Arais seem to try to maximize the internal air flow for cooling and comfort, but the trade off is more noise.
I'll probably buy one and wear ear plugs.

Javadog,
I read somewhere that wind noise was a big factor in hearing loss among riders. I always wear earplugs when riding.
