States there is an orange Uly due in today or tomorrow, but the black ones are being "DELAYED" or something due to the finish not being up to par! now i have seen a number of black Ulys on these pages and have read about the extensive testing undergone at the factory on the finishes! what is the truth? ok, i edited my first post, the "R" word was most likely not warranted. i was most likely a little free in my translation of what the dealer said! he basically told me they were not getting black Ulys as orig scheduled due to "some issue" with the black finish. it has been my thought all along that there was some other real reason they didn't receive black as promised? | ||

Sleez, Just got back from picking up my bags at the dealer. We looked through all the service bulletins. Nothing about black finish problems. I suspect, as others have said, the dealer is spinning it. | ||

Call many of us a tad touchy about use of the word "recall". My QF2 is not yet complete. . . but I may be able to shed a bit of quasi-fact as I conclude. The ONLY thing I am aware of that MAY have slowed black delivery as opposed to Butterscotch. . . er. . pardon me. . . BARRICADE ORANGE is a small concern of finish/color of the decals. Problem? Only if you see it as a problem as the folks at Buell are REAL (verging on a sickness) picky about PERFECTION. The use of Surlyn has pretty much obviated the chance of "paint problems" and it is not (remember you are dealing with UHVY (University of High Voltage Yellow) Alumni) subject to lots of goofisms that lowly paint falls to. For now. . . I am deeming this to be "urban legend". If I get more info, you'll know. Court | ||

I am pleased, following completion of the QF2, that we can chalk this one up to URBAN LEGEND and MISCOMMUNICATION. Elves are building AND SHIPPING Ulysii in BARRICADE ORANGE and BLACK just as fast as they can. Next question . . . Court P.S. - is it a "good" thing or a "bad" thing when a person is 3rd on a waiting list for a Buell? I've waited years for this!  | ||

Thanks court, I spoke with the dealer last night, he said his distribution rep is the one who told him there was an "issue" with delivery of black Ulys. Spin from somewhere it looks like. I have an appointment to check the Barricade Orange one out saturday morning, they even held the crate banners for me! | ||

steve, they are big banners that are shipped, i believe (feel free to correct me as i don't truly know), inside or outside the crate to keep dust and junk from getting on the bike in transit, ferris and daves are pictured next to many here;  most of the time they are thrown away when they uncrate a bike! can you believe that!? will look great in the garage! Hey Sleez I sat on the Orange one in Ukiah yesterday. If your hoping for a demo ride, forget it. They don't have it preped yet, even though I had called them on Wed and asked if I could take it around the block on Friday, and they had said OK. They seem to be too busy to get around to it right now. I dropped off my T-Sport for them to sell so I can look for a Uly. | ||

Hey Frankf and Sleez I called Ukiah yesterday, and bought that Orange one you were sitting on Frankf. I was waiting for a Black one, but the Orange has kind of grown on me (must be those pictures of Ferris traveling around the West). They will service the bike next week and I'll pick it up next Saturday. It's feeling pretty cool be be getting back among the Buell crowd again... ironbuttbill... | ||

Congrats Ironbutt Stay in touch. Seems there might be a few of us with the Uly's in the Mendo area soon. It would be great to do some rides together. I did Barlett Springs Road from Hwy 20 at Clear Lake to Wilbers Hot Springs on the KLR last weekend. About 50 miles, all good graded gravel. It would be good road to cut the Uly's teeth on for an offroad tryout. (Message edited by FrankF on September 10, 2005) | ||

i just came from sitting on it myself! i am picking up my banners on tuesday, and need to decide if i am buying a Uly or not! i would hate to sell the S1W, but prob would have to, my current garage situation barely handles 2 buells and my old honda! i have plans for the old honda, and haven't finished building up the thunderbolt yet, and have always wanted an S1W, oooohhhh!!!! decisions!!!!!! | ||
