I can't imagine why you would want another bike. The Ulysses does so many things so well. Save your pennies. Take your significant other on a romantic trip to Italy. That would probably...no definitely... result in many more "benefits" than another bike could provide. | ||

Milar, Thanks. I see the XB12X taking some of the touring duties off the Road Glide and doing some commuting also. The XB9 would be mainly a backup to the other two for commuting chores. Brotherbuell, I actually don't need any motorcycle. I just enjoy riding and don't doubt the XB12Xs ability. But having a backup when the other 2 need service seems reasonable. I do 500+ miles a week just going to work, so those services come up pretty quick :-) | ||

2hogs, I'm workin on trading my Glide for a Uly and then I'll have my 9R for track schools and fun. I've done day trips on my Firebolt and it isn't bad with the Buell touring seat and traction pegs, traction grips. It has the race kit on it too. So I say YES a 9R would compliment your stable and since it sounds like you would use it and its another BUELL! | ||

Coolice, Trade the Glide? I have an '03 and think it has a permanent place in the garage, mainly due to the 108 mile round trip commute I have. How are the ergos on the 9R? I rode a friends GXSR600 and those clipons were too low and far forward for me. Seems as I age, it gets harder to reach the clipons as my gut hits the tank before my hands reach the grips  Cheers | ||

I plan to sell/trade my '03 XB9R when I can get a Ulysses. The ergos on the 9R are actually pretty comfortable (for 5-9, 150 lb me) but I couldn't justify having two sportbikes (2000 Aprilia Mille also) plus a Swiss Army Knife. | ||

I'm also trading my XB9R for a Ulysses, on Sat Can't wait! I still have my 98 S1 and a 99 S3...Two Tubers... I'm going to miss my "R" but maybe I'll get another "R" next year during year end closeouts... Yep 2hogs set up the deal tonite. The Glide is too heavy to me, especially 2 up. Plus I don't ride it enough to have it set in the garage for a trip once ayear when the Uly can do it all, plus a little back road riding too. So now I'll have 2 Buells in my garage, can't wait! | ||

Coolice, yea my Glide is my main commuter vehicle unless there is snow on the ground, if not for that she would be sold. | ||

I test rode the XB12X a few weeks ago. Nice 25-30mile ride. I didn't want to give it back! I was really worried that when I threw my leg back over my 9S that I wasn't going to be happy with it or like it as much anymore. NOT THE CASE! (Thankfully... I think?!) Now I need both! I was almost at peace with trading in one of our 9S's for the Uly, but now I MUST have both! Hope this helps! | ||

To me the Uly feels like a bigger version of the S. I've got a 9SX now and can't afford to own two bikes, so I'll be selling the 9SX for the Uly. If I COULD afford a second Buell, I would most likely get a 9R. The ergos on the 9R are much more agressive for going out and really riding the snot outta yer tires. In your case 2hogs, if you are looking to commute on another Buell I would say the 9SX is your best bet for a commuter bike-outside of the Uly. ...just my two cents | ||

An update. I've got 980 miles on the XB12X. I'm very happy with the bike. I have the 1K service scheduled so she's just sitting in the garage for now. I could buy another Buell for commuting chores, to the tune of 500 miles per week, but am holding off for now to see if I can keep up with the XB12X routine services while it's the only commuter vehicle. Course if not, I may just get a XB12Ss for it's slightly bigger gas tank and it's relaxed ergos. Well there's always the Road Glide to use, but I have performance upgrades planned that will keep her off the road for awhile :-) Thanks Joe |
