I called the local dealer with the intention of putting deposit down on a Uly. I'm an existing customer of this dealer. They quoted me a price of $14,000 out the door with the three bags. Seems a little high to me. They can deal or I can wait. I've already got a bike to ride. |

I wanna see it when you get it!!!!!! I think you're right, it is high. I think I read a thread yesterday where someone said they got an out the door price of 11 something. Give Daves a call and see what he will sell you one for. I'll be glad to fly up and ride it back for you. |

$11.5K bike +$1.0K bags +$0.5K dealer prep +$1.0K tax/title/license $14.0K Sounds like list price with the ubiquitous dealer prep/delivery charges added on. If I were the salesman though, I'd have made it $13,995. |

Unfortunately I think I know which dealer Mike is referring to. Their standard practice is to add $750 to the price of any bike for freight and setup. That's separate from any other markup they might add to the bike. I'm thinking it's unlikely they marked up the price of the Ulysses, but I'm also thinking that it's unlikely they gave a discount on the bags. The good news is that they'll probably start negotiating on Buells around the time the cold weather hits. Mike, any chance you got this quote yesterday? I was in the dealership on my lunch break ordering some parts when one of the salespersons came to the parts counter looking for the price and availability on the Ulysses. Would be quite the coincidence if she was getting the quote for you. Speaking of bags, I still have your saddlebags from my trip to Daytona and I'd like to get them back to you. Mike L. '04 XB12R |

Hey Spike, Yep it were me. I had credit card in hand ready to make the deposit. I have cooled down today. I'm the sterotypic impulse buyer, lol. I'll pm with my address for the bags. All the best, Mike. |

My dealer quoted me around 200 bucks to fit the bags, but I will do it myself. |

Take a look at this site to see what the bags look like compared to the S3 www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=93290&page=4&pp=15 (Message edited by thunderbox on August 30, 2005) |
