BadWebber Eor's been posting a cool thread over at Advrider. He's going day-by-day on his Ulysses ownership experience: http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=93290 Good reading. |

I thought that this board needed a Uly dedicated area and I am pleased to see it! Nice Job, Blake! |

I'm gratified to see so much enthusiasm for the Uly on the advriders forum. I wonder if they maintain all content indefinitely there. If not, I'd sure like to save a copy of Eor's tale here too. |

Better yet, get Eor to post it here himself. It'd be perfect for the Tale Section. |

Thanks for the comments...and for the dedicated Uly section! I thought about duplicating the thread here but didn't for a couple of reasons: I think this forum will be well enough served by Ferris Bueller's upcoming trip. I just can't imagine that I would have anything useful to contribute here once his journey begins. Buell is such an unknown entity over there I thought I could satisfy some significant curiosity and put some misconceptions to rest. You guys already know what's what with Buell. Also, posting photos here is a little more complicated since they have to be resized. The photos at ADVRider are all hotlinked to my hosting service[smugmug] where they reside at whatever resolution I choose to upload. All of the higher resolution photos in my ADVrider thread can been viewed here if you are interested... http://aa5ch.smugmug.com/gallery/751542 If someone has suggestions as to how I can easily transport the report over here, I'll be glad to try. However, I didn't want to just cut and paste the text. (Message edited by eor on August 29, 2005) |

Wycked... all you have to do to have posting privileges over there is to register [unless something has changed I am not aware of]. Donations are appreciated, but not required for participation. One reason for a delay in getting a response from the support at ADVRider.com might be this.... The site owner/operator got creamed by a truck while riding his mountain bike near Alice's Restaurant the other day. If you haven't noticed by now....the guiys over there turn everything into an "adventure" that has to be documented online. Eor, thanks for the kind comments, but don't sell yourself so short. i spent a little time the other day looking at your work on ADVRider and really enjoyed it, as does everyone else it appears. i hope you continue to post your thoughts and impressions here on BADWEB, and maybe Blake can offer some help with the photo sizing aspect. my upcoming piece is just that - a piece - and there's room for MANY pieces here. good luck with your new Uly, hope to see you on the road some time. Thanks Jerry! I wish I could join up with you but you are going to be a little far north of me. I haven't gotten my bags installed and I'd need more gear than I can carry in the small bag I'm using. You have inspired me to make an afternoon pilgrimage to Buell, Arkansas. I sure hope they have a sign I can use in a photo! Otherwise I'm going to feel pretty stupid, sitting on the side of desolated two lane searching for anything with "Buell" on it. I don't know if the town is big enough to have a post office or not. |

Eor, BadWeB offers the same ability to post existing web-resident photos as advrider. Check out the \imagelink{URL of pic file here} formatting tag. More info via the "Help" link at the bottom of any page. Shoot, cut and paste Advrider reports into an email to me and I'll do the reformatting for you. Shouldn't take me more than five minutes of find/replace editing. The one issue I have with using off site hosted content is that more often than not it eventually disappears and is thus lost from BadWeB. In that light, if you are willing to send me the full res pics, I can host them here for you. I'll be doing the same for Jerry and his pics. Not sure I mentioned that to him yet though. We may even post his report as a full-blown professional looking document in PDF form. If he's up for it I sure am willing to help with that. Hi FB! Anyway, let me know what if anything you'd like to do. Sure would be great to have a copy of your excellent report saved here for posterity. Thanks, Blake |

Just to make it simple since my last comment was misunderstood, this is from the LAST OF 3 ATTEMPTS to register at ADV dated 7/25/2005 10:51am
quote:Dear wyckedflesh, Thank you for registering for the ADVrider forums. Before we can activate your account one last step must be taken to complete your registration! Please note - you must complete this last step to become a registered member. You will only need to click on the link once, and your account will be updated. To complete your registration, click on the link below: http://www.advrider.com/forums/register.php?a=act&u=15989&i=11349589
The registration link above was followed, taking me to a message that said "You are now in the queue for approval from the Moderators. This may take a few hours so please be patient" As you can see from following the link I am STILL an invalid user. To keep from cluttering up Badweb with this issue, I wish to discuss it no further. My case has been stated, I followed the registration protocal, and have no posting privlidges. I will satisfy myself instead with just simply reading there. I would however like to mention, in keeping with the Badweb concept of this post, I DO thank Blake for the Uly board and am very glad to see it here. I look forward to Jerry's report and think the pics Eor took are pr0nlike in their Sexiness Thank you for my previous venting and please accept this post as an END to the issue. Mikel/Wycked |

Thanks for the info Blake. I'll look into how to get it duplicated here. My image hosting account at smugmug will be there for as long as I am alive or smugmug is in operation. My main reason for setting it up was to provide a permanent online home for my father's photographs from World War II...that's my mission. |

ULY tire wear... Well I have 1,913 miles on my new Ulysses and the rear tire is worn about half of its usable life. The D616 is probably as good as the rest of the sportbike tires but the wear is comparable to all the others I've tried on my S3T. I checked the pressure and it was about 5 psi low which could account for some early wear but not all of it. Some of the miles were two-up max loaded so that could be another factor. Bottom line is that to use this as my commuter bike to save on gas, I will be paying for it in tires... All else is good and I love the bike none the less! I just wish we could find a good tire with stickage that would last longer. Going over the bike just now, I found the kick-stand mounting bolts loose. This kick-stand mounts to the bottom of the engine case with two bolts. The rear bolt is accessable easily but the front bolt is a major pain to get to with standard tools. I'm going to have to make a special bent wrench to tighten it without removing the muffler. I guess a well engineered bike still has some drawbacks. BC Steve |

"This kick-stand mounts to the bottom of the engine case with two bolts." Could or would someone or anyone post a pic of the kickstand mounting for the Uly? I'm just curious, and reading this just put an idea into my head about something I may be able to adapt it to. |
