Hi guys,

I know I am suppose to finish my trip report. But today was such a nice day to go off roading in the mountains. Below are brief pictures of our trip to Mt. Rainer. We did 75 miles of gravel travel and about a qrter mile of really nasty, muddy stuff. I got up to 60 plus on the straights and down to 40 - 20 mph on the corners. There were a lot of hairpin turns up there. By the way, the muffler does work while submerged. Not that I did it on purpose but it happened and it handled it fine.

Have a great weekend!

Thomas

Actually, I did not because I was two up riding for all of it.

One of these days I will come back to these trails without my passenger or bags and see how it goes. I heard that a stiffer suspension works well. But, I haven't tried it yet. I have the suspension set for a pretty soft ride for two. It worked out well.

Thomas

I would love to hear what you have to say about the Uly dirt manners. Did the tires have enough tread to grab on gravel?

Was the short turn lock any problem off road?

Thanks

Frankf sorry for the long delay in responding. Been busy....

Dirt manners of the Uly.... It handles itself well in gravel. This being said, if you have never ridden a bike in gravel then it will probably make you nervous. For me, the Uly did great. I was able to get up to 60-70 mph riding two up with no worries at all. Cornering I did slow down to 40 or so. Where the Uly is lot more difficult to handle was when I was in the mud. You have to let it slip and slide for there is no traction to be had. It was fun! I was able to get in out of the mud without dropping. However, I did drop once when making a tight turn over tree stumps. The tight turn radius can be a problem when there is little room for maneuverability. I did have to get off and push the Uly around to get out of of some tight situations.

Thanks Mojo for the report.

Did you air the tires down at all?

Yea, I can see where there will be lots of places it will need to be pushed around instead of ridden.

I did not air down the tires. But I did ride higher to put more weight on the front when the speeds got up. I have my suspension pretty stiff in the front also.
