Hi guys and gals, After 2442 miles of two-up riding we are back in the great northwest. Dave mentioned I should touch base on the board to give an update. I have a lot of stuff to post. Lots of pictures and feedback on my Uly, but not enough time to do it since I have returned. Before I forget I want to thank Dave for the Uly and the help getting me out of town. A thanks to Lake_Bueller for the Packers tour. You both were great! Lastly, a big thanks to Chuck of Buell/Harley in Gillet WY for the 1k servicing. Briefly, the ride was great. I did a lot of off roading, tons of pavement pounding and every weather extreme I didn't expect. My uly was flawless except for a minor fan rattle. I think it ate a bug somewhere in SD. The longest non-stop ride we did was 777 miles in one day! After 10 hours our butts where screaming! But I would be screaming if I sat 10 hours in front of the TV! Best MPG was 54 going through Yellowstone. I am compiling a lot of info from my journal. Plus I have tons of pictures! I will try to get it done this week. |

Loking forward to read the trip report. Question . . . what did you do about break-in? Was it a bitch to vary the rpms and not exceed 3500 for long periods of time? I imagine this would be a pain for a long distance ride on a brand-new bike. |

Az_m2, does anyone actually break in their bike according to manufacturer's instructions? Too bad if they do... What a waste of time! |

I do. Don't know why the manufacturers would recommend it if not for a good reason. So you're suggesting that buying a new bike and running it for 10 hours straight at 4,000 rpms is not worse for the engine than following recommended break-in? |

Thomas glad u made it back safe. It was great meeting you folks. I'm still waiting for a bike to show up here at the dealer. If you ever get back this way I usually have at least tent space to stay. This is a great site you pointed out to me,thanks. |
