What does the passenger sit on when the rack is folded back to hold gear? I've got to give it great big thumbs upThat looks very nicely done. |

Very cool! Hmmmm... I'm already wondering if the extended rear hugger and the taller flyscreen/ windscreen will fit my 9S, though... |

Typeone, I ended up blowing away the high-rez scans as I did the "downsizing" process. I could rescan but by this time tomorrow, there'll be better pics all over the 'Net I'm sure. WYD |

Finally! Tall for the tall freaks! More range, an actual place to tie crap to. It's a 1200 and it has silver rims? I wonder if they will offer a flip up seat like the old RS1200 had? That would be PERFECT. |

It's tall and heavy. Can't complain that Buells are only for small people anymore.... |

I don't know I guess I wasn't expecting this exact bike...I'm a little disappointed for now. It's half the body of a blast, it's way heavier than the already bulky XB, and I don't know if that rotor will hold up through rocks and off-road terrain. I guess it's something to look at, tho. It's gonna look a little awkward sitting in a Harley dealership I can tell you that much! I'm Out. |

Well, that is one of them. 12 hours and we'll know what the other one looks like. I'm impressed so far. Jim |

"I don't know if that rotor will hold up through rocks and off-road terrain." It is a road bike that is built for all roads, gravel, dirt, paved. It ain't an "off road" bike. That said, I'm not seeing how much of anything is going to bother the front disk though. It is tucked away safely inside the wheel rim. If that disk gets damaged, the wheel will already be toast. "Half the body of a Blast" I don't see that either. Not that it would be any kind of problem. I think the Blast is a cool Street Thumper. I just don't see any Blast bodywork on the Ulysses. Sure is funny how some people think. |

"it's way heavier than the already bulky XB" As an Adventure Sport bike it is nowhere near being the heaviest in its class. You think the XB is bulky?? You view 450-460 LBs fully wet as bulky? |

The blast has a body? It's not heavy. That's the full-up wet weight. If it has the general feel of my X1, and is available in non-banana colors, I will most likely be standing in line to get one of these. (I would also most likely thereafter be ripping off plastic like did on my X1) |

Agreed... 385 lbs dry for the XB9S. Bulky? No way! The old BMW GS was around 550 lbs. wasn't it?? |

Another picture in the review (which I've not scanned) shows a rider on a black XB12x with full luggage. Not a drop of banana to be seen. |

Look at the rear of the swingarm. Looks like it has been extended some. |

The yellow doesn't look bad. I like it. Looks fun popping that wheelie in the yellow. |

Comparing with a pic of an XB12S I notice a few more things about the Ulysses... 1. The drive belt looks to be very much enclosed. 2. The frame extends further to provide mounting for passenger pegs. 3. The driver pegs are an inch or two below where the Lightning pegs are located. |

Old (2005) BMW GS Adventure- dry weight- 547 lbs.!!! That's bulky! New style BMW GS (non-Adventure model) dry weight- 439 lbs. Ulysses is probably right around the new GS dry. Pretty darn good and perfectly acceptable for this class. Suzuki V-Strom- dry weight- 458 lbs.- The V-strom feels very light and nimble too. I almost bought a yellow one. The Ulysses is probably my next motorcycle. I'll wait to see the other feller tomorrow! Then I'll know for sure. |

The Ulysses is about 35 pounds lighter than the new R12GS -- don't trust manufacturer published weights, including Buells. It's slightly heavier than a KTM Adventure, which is about the lightest of the current Adventure Touring bikes. The V-Strom is substantially heavier, I think, but I don't have the figures in front of me. |
